Off the Beaten Path: Wall Street to Startup Investor – A Fireside Chat with Me!

Who is “Pankaj Jain” besides being the founder of Invest Stream and Founder Craft What came before?

If you’ve followed my erratic writing over the years, you might have some idea. I’ve been a risk manager at the largest hedge fund in the world, Long-Term Capital Management (LTCM), operator, product manager, entrepreneur, community builder at BarCamp Delhi, co-founder of HeadStart Network Foundation and Startup Weekend India

I’ve been a venture capitalist at TLabs and 500 Startups, advisor to startups, funds and platforms like AngelList India and most recently, a dabbler in startup and venture capital related video content

My friend and former colleague, Ritesh Bansal, suggested interviewing me on the show to bring out more about who I am and what my journey has been. Naturally, I couldn’t refuse an invitation to be on my own show. Get ready for a frank and open discussion between an old friend and I. This is going to be Ritesh’s first time being visible on any social media channel, so please be gentle with him. It’s an #AMA so feel free to ask me anything.

I’m looking forward to seeing you for the AMA-style chat on July 28th, 2020 at 9:30am PDT / 12:30pm EDT and 10:00pm IST. If you’d like to RSVP and have a calendar invite, click the button. Otherwise, head over to YouTube with your questions.

A New Livestream Series – The Raise

As founders, a VC, angel and, now, through our advisory business at Founder Craft, we get asked for advice or “feedback” a lot. The questions range across a wide spectrum. However, they have one thing in common – they as for our opinions.

My Partner at Founder Craft, Gregarious and I have been doing some live streams over the last few months in addition to my InvestStream videos on YouTube and Instagram.

A little over a month ago, I was in Oman for an Investment Committee meeting and Greg messaged me. He said he was thinking about raising money for his new startup, Fanabulous! and what did I think about streaming the process.

I thought it was a great idea. Doing each episode, completely unscripted, focusing on him as a founder preparing to raise money for his new startup, should resonate with founders and even with some investors.

After some fine tuning, we launched ‘The Raise‘, an interactive, live-stream where Gregarious (the Founder) and I (the Investor) dive into the process of his fundraise.

You can subscribe to the YouTube channel to receive notifications of every episode. If you have questions, feel free to throw them up in the comments or drop us an email at raise@foundercraft.com

InvestStream – Our New Podcast

A few weeks ago, my friend Harjit, and I decided to start recording our conversations about the economy, startups, and tech in the US and India and sharing it with people that may be interested. We are calling this podcast InvestStream. We’ve done two episodes so far and plan to do it weekly.

We’ve discussed everything from market stats to central bank monetary policy to fund raises by startups to where the blockchain and cryptocurrency worlds may be headed. We would love some honest, critical feedback on this experiment and what we can do to improve it. We are still playing with the format and we could really use your feedback on what you find useful.

We will plan to keep the conversation from 20-30 minutes and we will have both audio only versions on SoundCloud as well as video.

The audio episodes are available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Breaker, and others.

The full video episode Youtube playlist is below.
