Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I’ve been a huge fan of Microsoft Natural Keyboards since the original came out in the mid 1990’s. I had an ugly though comfortable beige one for work and exactly the same keyboard in black for home. Both keyboards have faithfully served me for more than 7 or 8 years ( I can’t remember the exact length of time ). Recently, a few of the keys on the Black keyboard from home started having some sticky key syndrome and the beige one for work was looking incredibly dirty and also had some sticky keys.

I hated the cramped feel of the Natural Keyboard Elite with the strange shaped arrow keys and function keys like Insert, Home, Delete, Page Up, Page Down and End. Once M$ announced the Natrual Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 I looked up the specs here. Looks simple enough, it’s a USB keyboard and you can use a USB to PS/2 adapter to work with PS/2 ports. Guess what … it doesn’t work with PS/2 ports.

I bought this keyboard for home to use with one of my older PCs that only has two USB ports and if I liked it, I’d hook it up to my PS/2 based KVM switch. Well, that won’t work and now I have to waste more time going to return the keyboard ( which feels incredible comfortable ), and the USB to PS/2 adapter that I purchased.

Why does Microsoft have to continue to print stuff that isn’t accurate and are they coming out with a PS/2 version of this great keyboard? Also, if anyone has managed to get this keyboard to work with PS/2 ports and/or a PS/2 KVM switch, please let me know.
